developing practical applications for

telecommunications and broadcast satellite

technologies. These “space development”

initiatives, which are being promoted as

national government projects, have significant

future potential. Television broadcasts of satellite

and rocket launches feature ground control rooms

filled with computers. Shinkoh’s specialty,

however, is the development of systems related

to the launches, notably the design, manufacture,

and engagement of management control systems

and other devices. We send teams of technicians to

terrestrial bases in Tanegashima, Okinawa, and

Ogasawara to perform crucial refinement and

maintenance tasks. And we are involved with

the ground control team for an international space

station that is scheduled for completion in

2006 as a joint multinational effort.

We also design, make, inspect, and sell various

types of testing devices and electric light billboards.

Our bottle testers use tiny cameras to scrutinize

beverage bottles for damage and foreign objects

and to ensure proper shape. These testers are used

and trusted by many manufacturers worldwide.

So are our laser length measurers for evaluating

the accuracy of copiers, transmission fault

detectors used by electric power companies, and

notice boards seen in airports and other public places.

Currently, we are developing an energy-saving

notice board which uses instant electricity to

cause a magnetic reaction. These reflect our efforts

to save energy and lower costs for our customers.
